Off To The Races # 2

POSTED ON LIVEJOURNAL ON: February 27, 2012 @ 10:42pm

On February 4th, my middle stepsister held a fundraiser for her son's baseball team. It was supposed to be an 80's themed party, but only a few decorations ended up being that way. We were all supposed to dress up, too. Julie (my middle stepsister) wore a Nerds Gone Wild t-shirt & I wore my hair in a side ponytail. That was the extent of that. LOL. Anyway, it was really fun. The rest of my family helped out by working. My dad & I worked the betting table. Any time someone wanted to place a bet on one of the mice, or sponsor a mouse, we had to give them poker chips & a slip of paper stating which mouse/race/how much they bet on it. Woo fun times. Lmao. My stepmother & oldest stepsister worked the table at the front door. My stepbrother walked around selling tickets for the raffle baskets. Julie came by every now & then to see if we needed anything to drink or eat. I ended up eating 2 Jello shots. Whew! She put a whole lotta alcohol in those. Dayum. They tasted good though. By the end of the night, I actually won a raffle basket. It was a little Easter tree with about $80 of scratch-off tickets on it. I ended up winning $43 from the scratch-offs.

I got to see a lot of people I hadn't seen in a long time. I even got a hug from one of them. Oh lawdy he is hot, too. He looks very similar to Ryan Gosling. Yum. Haha. He wanted the little plant pot thingy that the Easter tree was in cause he wanted to give it to his mama to use. Aww. Lmao. I know those people are Jacqui's (oldest stepsister) friends, but I loved hanging out with them back when I lived with her. I miss hanging out with that whole group. It was such fun times. *sniffle* So anyway, it was a good night & I had a ton of fun. I love going to mouse races. :D

100 Monkeys Invade STL...Again!

SHOULD HAVE BEEN POSTED ON: August 12, 2011 @ 02:03am

The day started with Jilly* picking me up cause my raggedy ass car was broken. We met some of her Twitter friends & had lunch. Then we decided to head to The Pageant to get a spot in line. We were the only people there at that point. Lol. We found out that they were gonna give early access to the venue for people 21+ by way of The Halo Bar, so we sat outside the door. At this point we met Kitty, who turned out to be a person I follow on Twitter. She had on this cute little clip on monkey tail that eventually Jackson wore on stage. Hehe! After a while, Jilly needed to get some stuff from her car, so I went with her. We walked back behind the venue & got to see the guys taking their instruments inside. Jackson was walking around with his pant legs rolled up to his knees. Damn his legs are white. LOL! And he was wearing his boots, which made him look silly. Ha.

After we sat back down at the Halo Bar door for a while, Jilly wanted to go exploring. We went to this place called the Moonrise Hotel. It was pretty cool. We took pictures of the color changing stairs.

So then there was some more waiting & finally The Halo Bar opened to let us in. We got a table & talked a bit & met a few more people from Twitter. For some reason, the Gods decided it was time for me to have a good day or something, because one of the girls in our group gave me her extra Meet & Greet pass. All of us in our group ended up with passes & with that we got even earlier entry into the venue. We had to line up in Suite 100 & wait for Lani to come get us to go meet the guys. I know it wasn't as long as I made it out to be, but the wait seemed to take forever. Lol.

They were letting people in 2 at a time. I got to go in with Jilly. Once I got in there, my eyes were the size of saucers. I didn't know wtf to do. LOL! I've never been to a M&G before in my life. Lani told us to go ahead and stand with the guys so we could get our picture taken. The guys were all standing in a row: Uncle Larry, Jerad, Jackson, Ben G, and Ben J. As soon as Jackson saw me, he said "it's been a long time!". Yes, over a year is a long time. Thanks for noticing, J. LOL. Jilly had some stuff to give to them, so while she was handing it all out, I just stood there with the Bens. They both said "hi, how's it going" & shook my hand. I can't believe I actually spoke to BMFJ! Or rather, he spoke to me. Lmao. He seemed so happy, which was a change from last time when he was sick, so that was good. Finally, it was time for the picture. I stood between Jackson & Ben G. Then it was over. When we were walking away, Jackson said "keep on dancin', keep on dancin'" & did a little wiggle. *ded* One of them said "hey, she has a...." I didn't hear the rest of that so I don't know what they were talking about.

When we got out of the room, we met up with Jilly's friend Cara & ended up bumping into Thwilla. We got a picture with him & he asked us to save seats for his family at the bar. We stood there until Jake Miller went on. I've never seen The Kissing Club before, so I went down on the floor to watch. Jake was amazing! And his band, too, of course. Loved them! I was supposed to go with Jilly to interview him after Bleeding Horse Express went on, but since it's been so long since I've seen the guys, she chose to take Cara instead.

The guys were fucking amazing as always. They sang a lot of older songs along with the new stuff. Due to my suck ass life, I didn't have the new cd 'Live And Kicking Part Too' yet. I loved the improv they did here. Watch my video of it. It was called Shut The Front Door. Bwaha. Normally I'd list the songs they played, but I can't remember them all. My memory is so gone. Ugh. Once the guys were done doing their thing on stage, they headed over to Suite 100 to do an autograph signing. My friends & I waited until the venue cleared out a bit to go over there. The line was sooooooo long so we waited in the front of the building until the line got smaller. We were the last ones in & the guards shut the door so nobody else could get in. They only opened it for people to leave. I got to meet Jake again, and also Bleeding Horse Express while waiting to get to 100 Monkeys. While I was in line, I had just enough money to buy Live & Kicking. I got it open just in time for Jerad to take it from me to sign. I took the sleeve out for them all to sign, but they signed that AND the cd itself. Both Jerad & Jackson read my shirt, which said 'Sith Happens', which is a Star Wars reference. Jackson was like "Sith happens. It sure does, doesn't it?" LOL. I asked him how many socks he had now** & Ben J chimed in saying "manneh...that means many." Lmfao. I love those guys. I asked them to come back again & they said they would.

After we all got out stuff signed, we went outside to look through the pictures we took during the show. Mine turned out crappy cause my camera sucks, but at least they weren't complete crap to were you can't see anything or whatever. All in all, it was one of the best nights ever. <3

(This picture is clearly the crappiest of them all, but I had to put it in here anyway.)

* Aside from bands & their crew, names have been changed to protect privacy...even though nothing here really needs to be protected. LOL.

**One day on Twitter, Jackson mentioned something about not having any clean socks. Some fans bought him socks & took them to the shows they went to.

Off To The Races

POSTED ON LIVEJOURNAL ON: January 29, 2011 @ 02:21am

Last Saturday, I attended my first ever mouse race. I'd never heard of such a thing until then. My middle sister's son is on a baseball team and the coaches & other adult team people were hosting a fund raiser. There was a huge group of us that went & it turned out to be a lot of fun. We didn't know what to expect. My sister ended up going to the grocery store to get some snacks for our table since all the other tables had brought some for their respective tables. The place was serving free beer & free soda, so that was awesome. It took a while for everybody to get settled, but once we all were, they started the races. They put 6 mice on this board thing that was stood up on a table. When the announcer guy counted down to 3, the "gates" were lifted & the mice had to eat little treat things all the way to the finish line. The way people were shouting, you'd think it was a horse race.

In between each race they did "rodent roulette" which meant that they put the winning mouse in a cup in the middle of a roulette wheel & spun it. When it stopped, they took the cup away and whichever slot the mouse ran to was the winner. Each slot had a state written in it. At the end of all 6 of the races, they took the winning mice & raced them against each other. The overall winner was a mouse named Bubbles. Hehe. It was cute.

After the races were over, they did raffles. I ended up winning 2 of them. I won a door prize, which was a $25 gift card to the Grappa Grill. I don't think I've eaten there before, but my oldest sister has & she said the food is good. Guess we'll see when we go there. The other raffle prize I won was a wicker basket full of snack food (2 cans of peanuts, 2 boxes of popcorn, 1 bag of tortilla chips, 1 6 pack of Pepsi) and 4 dvds ("He's Just Not That Into You", "Shrek The Third", "Valentines Day", & "Blazing Saddles").

All throughout the night, my sister's husband kept bringing literally fistfuls of drinks over to our table. My oldest sister & her friend that had come with us ended up getting pretty buzzed. I only had half a beer cause I don't like the taste of alcohol. Blech! I drank Dr. Peppers & Cokes instead. Overall the night was super fun. I can't wait for trivial night!

My *cringe* 30th Birthday

POSTED ON LIVEJOURNAL ON: MAY 21, 2010 @ 05:07am

After spending most of the day in bed trying like hell to get some sleep (and failing miserably), I finally got my ass up & in the shower. Went to pick up my sister & our bestie and then we stopped at Shop 'N Save so I could pick up some alcohol for myself since I don't do Tequila. It don't like me verra much. So then we headed home and I, of course, started cleaning shit up 'cause the living room was a wreck. I don't care if my friends don't care that it's messy, I don't like it being like that. Anyway, so finally my bro-in-law arrived & after a bit of talking we popped "Black Dynamite" into the dvd player. The movie was pretty funny, but more so at the end. Thought I was gonna piss myself. Towards the end of the movie my brother came home from work. After the movie, he decided we were gonna do birthday shots using Black Cherry Bacardi Rum. It wasn't that bad, but by the 4th shot, I was done. I was so drunk I almost walked into the screen door trying to go back inside the house. So anyway, while we were outside we started talking about things we did when we were younger. So many memories I had forgotten. I had such a blast that night. It may not have been the birthday party I wanted, but what I got was so damn awesome. Probably even better than what I had planned.

Just An FYI

I've decided to post my blog entries from LiveJournal over here since I hardly ever use it. So if you see a bunch of stuff posted in an hour on what seems like should be different days, that would be why. LOL.

My Most Epic Night Ever

Saturday night, I went to work all kinds of excited because I would be seeing 100 Monkeys the next day. Late into my shift I discovered that they would be doing an in store performance & autograph signing at 1pm at Vintage Vinyl. Happiness overload? You bet. So after work I went home to try to sleep. I almost got in a 2 hour nap, but kept waking up cause I thought I'd end up sleeping and miss the in store thing. So finally I got up, took a shower (as to not be all funky smelling), then headed down there. I did not hit a single stop light the entire time until I got to Delmar. Can't fucking believe it. That never happens. Anyway, I got in there and found a spot to stand just as the band was coming out to the stage.

I don't remember how many songs they did, but I got video of 'Keep Awake', and a partial video of 'The Monkey Song'. After the mini concert, they went in the back to do an interview. I went up front and bought their cd "Grape" and then got in line. While I was waiting, I talked to Marty (the band's bananager *hehe*). He said that day was going to be a long one because he only had 4 hours of sleep. I told him I had only 2 hours. He said "alright!" and high-fived me. Lol. Finally, I got up to the guys. Jerad was first. He asked me my name and that's when I found out it's the same as his wife's. Awesome. Next up was Jackson. I told him I like his hat. He said "Well thank you. My hat thanks you," and he tipped his hat. So fucking cute. Then came Ben J. and Ben G. They were both nice as well. Ben J. was playing with one of those mini slinkies. It made him happy that he got it to work. Haha. Heart him. After I met them, I went behind the records where a few other girls were so I could take some pics. We weren't allowed to take pics when we were in line to meet them.

THE CONCERT

My brother dropped me off right when the doors opened. I can't read directions and drive at the same time, so he was nice enough to do that for me. Once inside, I found a place to stand again. The opening band was Tin Tin Can. They rocked and I might actually buy one of their cds. There was a little bit of a break when they finished. Then 100 Monkeys took the stage. I got a small video of Marty talking to the crowd & calling Jackson inside. Jackson had his picture taken with the audience and talked about how he had been taking pictures with the rest of the guys all day. At the end of every show they auction off a disposable camera which has a bunch of pictures taken of the band (and other stuff) by the band.

I can never remember all songs or the order they were sung, so I'm gonna list the ones I do remember: "Keep Awake", "Looker", "Reaper", "Wings On Fire", "The Monkey Song", "Orson Brawl", "Clippity Clop", "Junkie", "Poison Oak". (To the girl who got the set list, if you could let me know the real order & other songs I missed, I'd be ever so grateful!) The improv song of the night they named "Best Friends". I so wish they would have recorded that and made it an actual song. Omg. Freaking looooved it! I hope someone video'd it and put it on youtube. Gotta check that out.

During the little breaks between songs they told us all some jokes. Jackson told 2, but I don't remember how the first one went. I know it was about aliens and cars and how they taste funny or something. LOL. The other was what's brown and sticky? A stick. Lmfao. I heart him so much. The only other joke I remember was told by Jerad. What's the difference between medium and rare? Medium is 6 inches. Rare is 8 inches. Lol. Then he proceeded to say that Uncle Larry is very very rare. Hahaha. Towards the end of the show they took a break. It was only for about 5 minutes. They came back and jammed with Tin Tin Can for almost an hour. So fucking awesome.

After the concert, I went outside to wait for my brother. There was a small group of people waiting. At the in store thingy Ben G. said that they would take pics with everyone after the concert if they had time. So we waited outside. Eventually Ben G. came to help pack up the instruments and stuff. A little while later the rest of them came out (except Ben J. who left early cause he wasn't feeling good, poor guy). They were all getting their van packed up so they were busy. Jerad said he could do one pic really quick so I got to get one with him. Yay! Then when Jackson came out, the group of us swarmed around him. Haha.

I asked him for a pic & he said 'sure sweetheart'. *melt* I thanked him and shook his hand. He has a very firm grip! Holy crap. Lol. Not that I'm complaining. His hand was so warm, which was nice cause mine was freezing. (It was so cold and windy that night. Brrrr.) Then it was the next girl's turn. She hugged him and I was jealous so I stuck around. When she was done talking to him, he turned to me. I asked him for a quick hug. He said 'sure, no problem!' and gave me a very nice warm hug. *sigh* After he let me go, I was walking away and he told me to drive safe. I turned around at the sound of his voice and stumbled off the curb of the sidewalk. I'm not sure if he saw that or not. Lmfao. Oh and also, Marty was backing the van down the street we were on so that the guys could load it up. He backed the trailer up on the sidewalk by accident and almost hit me. LOL. Good times.

Best. Night. Ever.

All of my videos from the concert and in store thing can be found on my YouTube Channel.
